What’s the Right Workout Length? Here’s How We Do It at RE:GEN

RE:GEN Fitness Club members training with barbells and squat racks during a coached workout length session in Fort Collins

It’s one of the first things people ask us during a No-Sweat Intro: what’s the workout length here, really?

They want to know what they’re signing up for. Fair question.

The short answer: sessions run 45 to 60 minutes, twice a week.

But the more useful answer is why we landed there, and why we don’t just hand you a stopwatch and call it a program.

It’s Not About the Clock

Here’s the thing most gyms won’t tell you: workout length by itself doesn’t mean much.

You could spend two hours in a gym and barely move the needle. You could also get a brutal, effective session done in 20 minutes.

It depends on what you’re doing and how hard you’re doing it, not how long you’re in the building.

Think about it this way. Lifting a fork 10 times won’t do anything for you.

Lifting a 40-pound dumbbell 10 times will. Same number of reps, completely different result.

That’s why we don’t program by the clock. We program by intent.

The Workout Length That Actually Works for Our Members

That window gives us enough time to warm your body up properly, do focused work on strength and mobility, and cool down without rushing.

It’s long enough to make real progress. It’s short enough to fit around a job, kids, and the fifty other things on your plate.

If you’re training for a marathon, you might need longer sessions built around endurance. If you’re a beginner just getting your joints and movement patterns dialed in, you might need less intensity but more coaching attention.

That’s the difference between a program built for you and a program built for everyone.

The Part Most People Get Wrong

Too little work, and your body has no reason to change. Too much work, and it can’t recover before your next session.

Either way, you stall out.

We’ve seen people push way too hard because they think more is always better. We’ve seen just as many hold back because they’re scared of doing it wrong.

Both groups end up in the same place: stuck.

Why We Coach Instead of Just Program

You could theoretically figure all of this out yourself. Some people do.

Between work, kids, and everything else, most of us don’t have the time, the background, or honestly the interest in becoming our own exercise scientist.

That’s what coaching is for. In your semi-private sessions, we build your program around your history, your goals, and how much time you actually have.

Then we watch how your body responds and adjust from there. No guessing, no generic templates, no wondering if what you’re doing is actually working.

Bottom Line

Sessions at RE:GEN run 45 to 60 minutes because that’s the workout length that gives you real, sustainable progress without taking over your life.

But the minutes on the clock were never really the point. What happens inside them is.
