We built a gym and we still struggle with this

You’d think owning a gym would make this easier. It doesn’t.

Right now, in the middle of building this business, our own training takes a back seat more than we’d like to admit.

Something always feels more urgent. A member needs something. A decision needs to be made. An email needs to go out.

The opportunity cost of working on yourself versus working on your business is real. We feel it constantly.

And here’s the part that keeps us honest.

Some of our members are now stronger than us in movements we used to own. People who couldn’t do a push up when they walked in are now outlifting us.

Watching them choose themselves before their work so they can be better at work is a constant reminder of what’s possible when you stop treating yourself like the last priority.

We’re still working on it too honestly.

What we’ve both learned is that waiting for a good time doesn’t work. There is no good time.

So we stopped waiting and started making any time work. Early. Late. In between. It doesn’t matter. This is the window so we use it.

And every single time we do, everything else goes quiet.

The to-do list. The decisions. The emails waiting on the other side of the session. For that hour it’s just us and the work.

We come out the other side more productive, more energized, and more present in everything else. The workout doesn’t take from the business. It gives back to it.

Regardless of where you are in your career right now, you deserve that too.
