I want to tell you about Ryan.
Ryan has played soccer since he was six years old. It wasn’t just a sport. It was how he moved through the world. Competitive through college, then rec leagues after that, because he loved it too much to walk away completely.
When his competitive career ended, he stayed active the way a lot of former athletes do. Hiking, snowboarding, staying busy. Eventually he landed on CrossFit because he wanted someone to tell him what to do again. He missed having a program, a structure, a coach.
The problem was that CrossFit wasn’t built for his body or what it actually needed. It broke him down. He spent over a year out of the gym entirely, dealing with injuries and a lower back that had finally had enough.
Ryan came to RE:GEN frustrated and eager in equal measure. He wanted his old self back, and he wanted it fast.
That’s where we had to do some of our most important work, and it had nothing to do with the weights.
We had to retrain his brain before we could retrain his body. The goal wasn’t to chase who he was at his peak. It was to rebuild from where he actually was, so he could get somewhere real and stay there.
He’s been with us since last July. His program pairs strength work with targeted rehab on the areas that needed the most attention. The progress has been consistent and it has compounded.
In Ryan’s own words, he’s proud of “gaining strength close to levels I hadn’t seen since my late 20s, increased overall stability, and getting back in better shape.” He came in with lower back pain and what he called sleepy glutes. He’s leaving those behind.
He feels like his former self again. That’s not a small thing.
If Ryan’s story sounds familiar, we’d love to have the same conversation with you.
