It’s Josh.
We talked about getting a number you can’t ignore.
I know that moment because I lived it, and a lot earlier than most people expect.
In my early twenties I ended up in the hospital with blood clots.
When it was over, I asked the doctor how bad it had actually been. He told me 9.4 out of 10.
That alone was a wake-up call. But then the bloodwork came back, and it told a bigger story.
I was on the verge of diabetic. My cholesterol was high. At an age when I thought none of this was supposed to apply to me yet.
My doctor wanted to put me on a statin.
And I sat there thinking, I’m in my twenties. Am I really starting a lifelong prescription right now?
I didn’t want that to be the answer.
Not because there’s anything wrong with the medication, but because I had a strong feeling my numbers were telling me about how I was living, and I wanted the chance to change that first.
So I made a deal with myself.
I took the training and the nutrition seriously. Genuinely seriously, for the first time in my life.
Then I waited for the next labs.
I got retested about every six months, because that’s how this works. You don’t get to see it shift overnight. You put in the work and you wait for the proof.
My A1C improved first. That one moved noticeably, and it told me I was on the right track.
The cholesterol was stubborn. It took longer. It wasn’t until close to the full year that those numbers really came down.
But they came down.
I tell you this for one reason.
When I sit across from someone holding a lab result that scared them, I’m not reciting something I read. I’ve watched my own numbers go the wrong way and then walked them back.
I know what it takes, and I know it’s possible.
That’s the connection so many people miss. Strength training isn’t just about how you look. It’s one of the most powerful things you can do for what’s happening on the inside, in your blood, in your metabolism.
If your labs just got your attention, let’s talk.
