From zero workouts to asking for extra days

CrossFit training with wall ball

Six weeks ago, Chris had never worked out a day in his life.

He’d just retired after years of running his own company. For the first time, he had the open schedule and the freedom to focus on himself.

His wife had always kept up a workout routine. Chris used to watch her do it. Now he wanted in.

He started slow, like we recommend for anyone brand new to training. We figured he’d ease into it and settle into a steady groove.

Instead, about a month and a half in, Chris came to us asking to add a third and fourth day to his week.

He told us he’s stronger. He moves better. He feels more confident getting through his everyday life.

He’s chasing his wife now, trying to catch up to years of training she already has on him. He wants to keep doing the things he loves for the next 10 years, not just the next one.

Chris told us he doesn’t dread coming in anymore. On the days he’s not scheduled, he wishes he was.

That’s what happens when the plan actually fits the person. Retirement gave Chris the time. The right guidance gave him the reason to use it.
