Boulder to Wyoming (Spencer’s story)

CrossFit training with wall ball

Spencer came to us with a goal most people wouldn’t even attempt.

He’s a paraglider. And he wanted to fly from Boulder to Wyoming. Over 75 miles in the air, completely under his own control.

The problem wasn’t ambition. It was his body. The core strength to keep himself stable for hours at a time. The upper body strength to constantly manipulate his gear against wind and resistance. The cardio to hike his equipment up to launch in the first place. And the overall strength required to safely fly the glider for the duration. Because in paragliding, there is no autopilot. For up to five hours in the air, you are constantly on. Every adjustment, every weather read, every correction is physical. Your body never gets a break.

Spencer had been a passionate flyer for years. But he hadn’t been training with intention. He was active, but not building the foundation his sport actually required.

So he came to RE:GEN.

Nine months later, Spencer made it to Wyoming.

When he landed, the first thing he said was that the months of work he put in and what he built at RE:GEN were the reason he got there.

That’s the thing about training for your sport. It doesn’t take away from it. It unlocks it.
